🚨 Danger
A collision between a person and the palletizer may result in material damage, bodily injury, or death. Ensure adequate clearance and that no person is within the work area before starting.
Disclaimer #
The installer is responsible for safe installation and commissioning. Probot Systems accepts no liability for damage or injury incurred from improper use. This section is based on ISO 10218-1:2011, ISO 10218-2:2011, IEC 60204-1, and ISO/TS 15066:2016.
Risk Assessment #
⚠️ Warning
The user must read and understand all instructions before operating the palletizer. Non-compliant use is deemed inappropriate and may cause injury or damage.
The entire cell must go through a comprehensive risk assessment before operation. Key risks to assess include:
• Load dropping or ejection from grip failure
• Pinching by moving components (robot arm, gripper, conveyor)
• Contact damage between objects and the robot or products
• Injury from person-to-machine contact
• Electrical and compressed air hazards
Safety Devices #
Safety configuration is customized per project. Available options:
| Option | Description | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Full collaborative | Relies on FANUC CRX built-in safety: force sensing, speed limiting | ISO/TS 15066 |
| Area scanners | Laser scanners with configurable warning + stop zones | ISO 13855 |
| Light curtains | Photoelectric barriers for specific access points | IEC 61496 |
| Physical fencing | Steel/polycarbonate enclosure with interlocked doors | ISO 14120 |
| E-stop buttons | Emergency stops on operator station and strategic locations | ISO 13850 |
Emergency Stop #
E-stop buttons are on the FANUC teach pendant and the Probot operator station. Pressing any E-stop triggers a Category 1 stop: the robot decelerates, then servo power is removed. Pneumatics are also de-energized.
⚠️ Warning
Ensure all operators know E-stop locations. Test the E-stop circuit at the beginning of every shift.
Intended Use #
The Probot Palletizer is designed exclusively for palletizing/depalletizing with the FANUC CRX-30iA. Use only in original condition without unauthorized modifications.
Misuse includes: incompatible robot, exceeding 30 kg / 66 lb payload, operating outside environmental specs, standing on pallets, untrained operation, manual product adjustment during operation, removing safety devices.
Lockout / Tagout #
🚨 Danger
Always perform lockout/tagout before any maintenance or intervention.
1
Advise all operators of the lockout.
2
Identify all energy sources: electrical, compressed air, gravity.
3
Turn off main disconnect and apply lockout device with tag.
4
Shut off and lock pneumatic supply.
5
Release residual energy (bleed air, support robot arm).
6
Attempt to start — no movement should occur.
7
Keep key(s) with you throughout the work.
